The Aerospace and Defense cluster includes the federal government (military), aerospace vehicles & defense, and automotive sectors. These sectors include military vehicle and armored car manufacturing, as well as, an emerging unmanned aerial system sector. McAlester Army Ammunition Plant (MCAAP), Choctaw Defense, and Spirit Aero Systems are major sector employers in the region with several defense suppliers operating out of their rural business.

An evolving advantage is the recent FAA designation of the Choctaw Nation as an Unmanned Aircraft Systems Integration Pilot Program awardee. This opportunity could fuel innovation and new employment in the Aerospace and Defense cluster. With over 2,000 employees, MCAAP is the largest employer other than Choctaw Nation.
