The Choctaw Development Fund awarded the Town of Keota $43,636 to assist with the Keota Park Renovation Project.
Since 2017, Keota has been working with Education, Service & Action (ESA), a nonprofit organization, to help create a park and recreation area for the community.
With the help of land donations and other generous contributions from the community, Keota was able to establish a park and purchase playground equipment. Residents also organized fundraisers and clean-up days and came together to build a pavilion that now serves as a meeting space for community gatherings.
The Choctaw Development Fund gave Keota a $43,636 grant to add a 24’ splash pad to the park, as well as building a restroom with a maintenance storage area. These additions will give residents more options for family fun and bring the park one step closer to the town’s vision. Keota would also like to add a walking trail to the park in the future.
“The town of Keota has put a lot of effort and time into creating a safe, welcoming space for residents to enjoy,” said Angel Drake, Choctaw Development Fund manager. “We are honored to be a part of a project that will serve the community for generations to come.”
