HUGO, Okla. - The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma awarded $58,800 to Latimer County and $63,800 to the city of Wilburton from the Choctaw Nation Community Partnership Fund for the 2025 fiscal year.
The Choctaw Community Partnership Fund voluntarily contributes quarterly to towns, cities, and counties where the Choctaw Nation operates non-gaming businesses. The Fund aims to foster collaboration and growth within these communities by providing financial support for various projects. The communities have the flexibility to utilize the funds immediately for maintenance, road improvements, beautification, recreation, public safety, equipment needs or save the funds for more extensive future projects.
“It’s a really important partnership,” said Robert Bias, Wilburton police chief. “Choctaw Nation has helped us tremendously across all departments.”
Latimer County said they’ve been able to use the Choctaw Community Partnership Fund to update their jail, purchase special equipment for the sheriff's office and assist with emergency management needs.
“The Choctaw Community Partnership Fund is an incredible asset of the Choctaw Nation, which allows us to have a direct impact in all communities across our reservation,” said Angel Rowland, Choctaw Development Fund manager. “We’re always excited to find ways to partner with our communities to create more opportunities and an enhanced quality of life for tribal members and residents.”
